MIDLAND -- 23 Year old Reyes Galindo suffered numerous stab wounds and died of his injuries on Sunday. His wife tells Big 2 News that the whole thing started as a dispute over $20.
"I [saw] him on the floor. I was holding him, I tried to get him to breathe, I tried to give him CPR. He only made a little sound, and then his eyes rolled back and he was cold," Reyes Galindo's wife April Brewton said.
Brewton says her husband Reyes Galindo was stabbed to death by 25 year old Alfonso Rodriguez.
She says the two men were close, and used to spend a lot of time together.
"They were friends. He would always come over here and drink, and chill. He would go in our house," Brewton said.
She says Rodriguez was sending her husband threatening messages, but Galindo never thought it would get to this point.
"Finally he came over here and that guy was mad at him and he didn't even see it coming. But they were friends for a while," Brewton said.
She remembers their fight shortly before the stabbing.
"I barely saw him two hours ago, we were fighting. I said some rude things before he left. And the last time I saw him he was dead. I wish I could take everything back I said."
Now, for April, memories are all that remain, and thoughts of what could have been.
"He was always smiling. We were always everywhere together. We just did everything together. I didn't have to work because he worked for me. We had hard times but he always got everything done that needed to get done. We tried to have a baby for five years. It just sucks that that happened. He was a good person."
Alfonso Rodriguez has been charged with murder, and the investigation is ongoing.
