UPDATE: Man Arrested For Fatal Shooting In East Midland County

The Midland County Sheriff's Office responded to a possible shooting happening late last night.
MIDLAND CO. -- A man is behind bars, accused of shooting one of his best friends in the back.

Daniel Easterling is accused of shooting 52 year old Jimmy Conway Sunday after a Father's Day get-together.

He was on the run throughout the day Monday but deputies found him around 9:00 that night.

Jimmy Conway hosted that Father's Day barbecue for his neighbors on Sunday.

At some point during the party, though, something seems to have gone terribly wrong.

"Last night, approximately 11:36, we received a 911 call in reference to a subject that had been shot in the area of E CR 86 and S CR 1130," Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter confirmed.

Daniel Easterling allegedly shot Jimmy Conway in the back sometime after the party.

According to neighbors, this was the last thing anyone could have predicted.

"They were friends, they hung out at each others house, they watched each others children, they've known each other over a year," one neighbor told us.

Residents describe this as a quiet community: The last place something like this would happen.

"We've never had an incident like this, ever. I mean, they gather at Christmas time, they gather at Thanksgiving," the neighbor continued.

Witnesses say they saw Easterling's father leave after him and may have hit Conway over the head with a baseball bat before Easterling shot him.

After the attack, Easterling tore out of the RV complex in his pick up truck, dragging Conway's wife in her vehicle before slamming into a tractor as he made his escape.

Neighbors say during his escape, he came off the tractor onto the fence and then into the street before deputies found his truck.

Around 9:00 Monday night, sheriffs deputies found Easterling in his fathers RV on CR 1157 and was taken into custody.

He is awaiting arraignment on murder charges.

Sheriff Painter says Easterling isn't talking to deputies.

He's in the detention center waiting to be arraigned on murder charges.

Deputies also took a small caliber hand gun from the rv which they are holding as evidence.
