UPDATE: Christmas Tree Disposal Locations

Midland and Odessa both have designated areas for Christmas tree disposal.
MIDLAND -- The City of Midland has two drop off areas designated for Christmas tree disposal.

Residents are encouraged to take their trees to the following areas:
· Citizen Collection Station, 4100 Smith Rd. (north of Claydesta Post Office off Veterans Airpark Lane)
· Hogan Park - Field #7, 1201 E. Wadley Ave. (behind the Armory; enter off Lamesa Road) – trees can be dropped off through Monday, Jan. 15, 2013.

Parks and sanitation crews will pick up the trees from the Hogan Park location and haul them to the city landfill for mulching. The mulching saves landfill space and can be used later as fertilizer.

Please note that the disposal of trees in areas besides the listed sites is considered illegal dumping.
ODESSA -- The City of Odessa has on specific drop-off location for Christmas trees.

Here's the full media release from the city:

Citizens are encouraged to dispose of their live Christmas trees at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 814 West 42nd Street. The trees will be mulched and provided free to citizens.

Trees should not be placed in City dumpsters or placed in alleys or other public right of ways. Disposing of trees in public right of ways and dumpsters is considered illegal dumping and can result in a fine.

For a donation, Odessa Girl Scout Troop 259 will pick up live Christmas Trees on December 28 and January 4. To schedule a pick up please call 550.2688 ext. 306 and leave a message.
