MIDLAND -- This month is Hispanic Heritage month, and Monday is Mexican Independence day.
Several local schools are celebrating hispanic heritage in their own ways,
Trinity School invited a local pinata maker to show the kids how they're made.
Trinity teacher Barbara Martinez shared her thoughts on why this benefits students.
"It's important to learn about the culture since we have so many people of mexican descent and we teach languages, we teach spanish, and it's also just a great talent mr. Garcia has and he's gonna demonstrate that for us today"
This is just one of the ways students in west Texas are learing about Mexican culture.
Odessa College held a mariachi summit and Lulac had a vaquero breakfast this morning.
