ODESSA -- Texas Tech University Health Science Center held a ribbon cutting for a brand new simulation center in Odessa on Monday.
The Louise And Clay Woods Simulation Center was able to officially open Monday morning.
The more than 13,000 square foot center boasts some of the latest in health training technology, ranging from advanced patient simulators to 3-d visualization.
The Texas Tech Health Science Center President, Dr. Ted Mitchell, says the cutting edge technology does more than just give students the education they need.
"It helps to develop their confidence. So when they do move to the live wards and see patients there, they feel very comfortable with scenarios that arise."
Students won't have to go far to see those patients.
Dr. Mitchell added that the new simulation unit is the only one in the Texas Tech system that has a live patient unit attached.
