Storms continue tonight then clear out for the weekend

We will see some below-average highs for a few days before the heat returns.
Widely scattered storms will continue Friday night across the area.

Some of the thunderstorms could contain heavy rainfall, gusty winds, lightning and even some small hail.

Saturday and Sunday we begin to dry out and will enjoy some slightly below-average high temperatures.

Then on Monday, another shot at some rain chances return. Right now, it's a low 20% chance for storms as a shortwave trough is expected to move over the area.

Later into next week we expect high pressure to return over the region, heating us up to the mid 90s instead of the low 90s.

Midland has only received 4.56 inches of rain this year, when we should have seen about nine inches of rainfall by this time of year.

The Big 2 Weather Team will continue to track these rain chances as we get closer.
