Growing up a proud "military brat," Shelby lived all over the world, even graduating high school in Germany. Still, there was always one constant throughout the moves - coming home to West Texas. Her father hails from Andrews and she spent many summers in the Permian Basin with "Granny and Papa." She has many fond, childhood memories of visiting the old prairie dog park in Andrews, eating steakfingers at Buddy's Drive-In and playing in Monahans Sand Dunes State Park.
Shelby has always had a passion for people, a thirst for knowledge, and a love for story-telling. A summer internship with ABC News in Washington D.C. opened her eyes to the possibilities of broadcast journalism and cemented her desire to work in the industry.
While a senior at Trinity University, Shelby interned at WOAI-TV in San Antonio. After graduating with honors and a Bachelors degree in Speech Communication and Business Administration, she was hired at the station as an associate producer. She worked behind the scenes for a year, helping write stories for the evening newscasts. But Shelby never lost her desire to tell stories and deliver the news first-hand, in front of the camera.
Shelby began her on-air career with KXII-TV in Texoma, as the bureau chief in Ardmore, Oklahoma. After a little more than a year, she was promoted to weekend anchor, working out of the main newsroom in Sherman, Texas.
Shelby joined the Big 2 News team in November 2010 as the Good Morning West Texas anchor and producer. In less than a year, she was promoted to evening anchor. She is honored to serve the people of West Texas and is happy to present the news and deliver stories that matter to you every weekday evening.
