Same-sex Marriage Couples Legally Wed in NJ

Some couples lined up to tie the knot right after midnight, early Monday morning.
Same-sex marriage is now legal in New Jersey, at least for now. Some couples lined up to tie the knot right after midnight, early Monday morning.

The New Jersey Supreme Court has denied the state's motion for a stay in a same-sex marriage case. That means same-sex couples can legally get married starting today. The original ruling in the case was made by a state judge in late September. She cited the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in June that stuck down part of the Defense of Marriage Act.
