RockHounds React to Their All-Star Selections

The RockHounds held a luncheon this afternoon to honor their four All-Star selections.
Four RockHounds will represent Midland in the Texas League All-Star game next week in Northwest Arkansas.

Today a luncheon was held to celebrate Anthony Aliotti, Jake Goebbert, Murphy Smith, and Dusty Coleman and their first half of the season accomplishments.

First baseman Anthony Aliotti isn't a newcomer to being an All-Star, having made the team last year.

"I was fortunate enough to do it last year and had a lot of fun. This year we have a good group of guys going with us so I'm excited to head over there and see what Northwest has in store for us and excited to play that game" said Aliotti.

Outfielder Jake Goebbert is making his first appearance as an All-star, and has adjusted nicely since joining Midland after coming over in a trade from the Houston Astros organization.

Goebbert said "One of the biggest things I'm probably looking forward to is getting to know the guys a little bit better throughout the league. You know you play with them on the field but you don't really get the chance to interact with them and we'll have that opportunity the next few days."

Super utility infielder Dusty Coleman is taking in his 2nd All-star appearance, but first since 2009 when he was in the Midwest League.

"I feel very blessed to get the opportunity to play with these guys. I mean we've played against all of these guys that are on the all-star team. They're all great competitors and great baseball players and I feel very honored to play with them" said Coleman.

Pitcher Murphy Smith has been a key piece to the Hounds pitching rotation this season and last, by being consistent and putting his team in a position to collect victories.

Smith said on his selection "Yeah, first off I'm very excited to go back and it's a great honor to be picked. So far the season has been going really well and I'm just trying to be consistent every time out there and give our team a chance to win. I've been fortunate enough to do that enough times to get selected to the game."
