What NASA is calling "the most interesting eclipse of the year" happened Sunday morning. But NASA says the overall event is a rare hybrid eclipse.

Meaning the eclipse will first appear as a ring of fire, before changing to a full eclipse. The eclipse will only be visible for a short time at sunrise on the East Coast. Where it'll appear as a partial solar eclipse. It'll look like a half or three-quarter moon.

If you plan on getting up early to sneak a peak, be careful not to look directly at the sun....you can check out space.com for tips on safe viewing.
