Permian Basin Area Foundation Gives Half A Million Away in Grants

More than half a million dollars is being given out to support West Texas non-profits.
MIDLAND -- More than half a million dollars is being given out to support West Texas non-profits. The Permian Basin Area Foundation doles out $618,300 in end of the year grants.

Permian Basin Area Foundation announced $618,300 in grant awards to regional nonprofit organizations during a news conference held today at the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum.

“The good work of nonprofit organizations is evident every day in our communities, and the Foundation is very grateful for each of you and your dedication and passion,” said Andrea Goodson, a member of the Foundation’s Grants Committee. “Today, the Foundation announces $618,300 in grants to area nonprofit organizations.

“These nonprofits enrich the quality of life we enjoy here in the Permian Basin.  The volunteers and staff of these nonprofits reflect the character and the caring nature of West Texans. It is an honor and privilege for the Foundation and its donors to partner with these organizations. “

Goodson introduced Grants Committee members Patty Herd, Carolyn Stone and Jan O’Neill who presented grant awards to 25 area nonprofit organizations:

Guy McCrary, Foundation president and CEO, spoke briefly about the impact of the Foundation in the Permian Basin region.  “In the past two decades, thanks to the generosity of donors, your community foundation has grown to include 258 permanent funds, serving communities in a 22-county region, McCrary explained. “Since inception, the Foundation has awarded nearly $55 million in grants and scholarships. This investment in our West Texas communities is evidence of the kindness, compassion, and generosity of donors.  Thank you to each one of you.”
 
Semi-annually, Permian Basin Area Foundation announces competitive grant awards following review of applications submitted in the spring and fall.  Spring grant pre-applications are due in the Foundation’s offices on or before April 1, 2014.
