Midland Christian Zero Week

The Mustangs begin their quest for a third straight state championship against the Monahans Loboes.

The Midland Christian Mustangs are ready to stampede onto the field Friday night as they start the 2013 season, and try to win their third consecutive state championship.

The Mustangs have a deep senior class returning and their first opponent will be the Monahans Loboes.

Midland Christian has defeated the Loboes each of the past two years, and look to make it three straight on Friday night.

Midland Christian head coach Greg McClendon knows that it's going to be a battle.

McClendon said "Every year and every game we have the same deal. It's to start fast, finish strong, and have fun. Well I don't think you can stop them, I think you have to try and limit them. They're a ball control offense and they're going to pound you and pound you and pound you. They're going to pop some every once in a while as well. Hopefully good things will happen. They're a good football team, they're the same old Monahans. Solid on the offensive side, solid on the defensive side, and you can only assume they'll be solid on special teams."
