Midland Christian Two Wins Away From 3rd Straight State Title

The Mustangs will face a familiar foe in Dallas Christian in the Semifinals of the TAPPS Division II playoffs.
Midland Christian has outscored their opponents this season 627-35. Let that sink in for a minute...

The Mustangs are two wins away from their third consecutive state championship, and if they achieve their goal they will easily be considered the best team in Midland Christian history.

But before the Mustangs can get back to the title game, they will once again have to take on Dallas Christian, a team who is also undefeated in 2013.

"It's the top of the mountain. It gets steeper, more treacherous. You don't mess around and throw rocks up at the top. You'll slip down and be in the valley before you know it. They know everything gets steeper and tougher at this time. We need to dot the I's and cross the T's, and the big word for the next two weeks will be finish" said Midland Christian head coach Greg McClendon.

McClendon was talking about what it feels like to be so close to capturing another state title.

The Mustangs and Chargers square off at 4:00 PM on Saturday from Bulldog Stadium in Abilene.
