Knox County Inmates Escape

The Sheriff said the three men shoved the jailer into the cell and slammed the door closed, locking the jailer inside.

BENJAMIN -- According to Knox County Sheriff Dean Homstad, 18-year-old Gabriel Lamar Castorena, who also goes by the last name of Haskell, 21-year-old William Earl Fobbs, and 20-year-old Dennis Ryan McMorris escaped from the jail on Saturday night.

Sheriff Homstad said around 8 Saturday night, a female jailer was attempting to retreive trash out of one of the cells when the Sheriff said the three men shoved the jailer into the cell and slammed the door closed, locking the jailer inside.

Homstad said the three men then escaped from the building on foot.

The female jailer, who was uninjured, had the keys to the cell with her and was able to get out of the cell and alert the Sheriff of the escape.

Sheriff Homstad said with the help of DPS Troopers and other surrounding agencies, the three men were found near an old trailer off Divide Street in Benjamin.

All three were taken back into custody without incident less than an hour after escaping.

Gabriel Lamar Castorena was being held on charges of sexual assault of a child, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and two counts of arson.

His bond was set at $150,000.

William Earl Fobbs was being held on a charge of aggravated robbery.

His bond was set at $210,000.

Dennis Ryan McMorris was being held on a charge of indecency with a child/sexual contact.

His bond was $25,000.

All three men will now face an additional escape charge, which is a felony.
