I-20 Crash Kills One, Shuts Down Interstate for Hours

One person was killed Friday in a chain-reaction crash.
MIDLAND -- Midland Police released this statement with the information on Friday's deadly crash on I-20 and Rankin Highway:

A Midland woman was killed and two others were transported to the hospital after an accident Friday morning on Interstate 20.
Midland Police and Fire Departments responded to an accident with injuries at approximately 9:47 a.m. Friday on Interstate 20 near Rankin Highway. Traffic had been slowed in the area as a result of two minor accidents located east of the collision.
The driver of an 18-wheeler failed to stop before rear-ending a Ford Expedition, causing it to rollover. The semi then hit a Pontiac Grand Prix in front of the SUV on the driver's side. Greta Rogers Renfro, 33, of Midland was driving the Pontiac and was declared dead on scene. The only other occupant of the Pontiac was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital. One of the two occupants of the SUV was also transported, and the driver of the 18-wheeler was not transported. The two transported individuals were treated and released Friday afternoon.
The investigation into the crash continues and no charges have been filed at this time.
