MIDLAND -- The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosted an open forum for the five mayoral candidates Tuesday in southeast Midland.
Each candidate answered questions asked by residents of the community.
A number of topics were discussed, such as economic development, specifically of the south and southeast side of Midland, water, and traffic congestion.
The big issue on many residents' minds is affordable housing.
One voter, Vicky Hailey, shared what she thinks is the most important quality to look for in a new mayor.
"Communicate, open communication. and communicate to all the citizens, not just a certain sector of the community, but all of the community, because we're all in this together. and it's gonna take a well rounded mayor, a well rounded individual to see to it that no one feels neglected or left out."
Early voting is underway and election day is Tuesday, November 5.
