MIDLAND -- October is breast cancer awareness month!

Did you know about 1 in 8 us women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime?  Most women, 40 and older, should have an annual screening mammogram, unless their doctors recommend otherwise.

Lumps, skin dimpling, or other breast changes should also be checked by a physician. It is also important to know any family history of breast cancer. If there is history, did it occurred pre- or post menopause? The earlier the onset of a relative's breast cancer, the sooner screening mammograms should begin.

Located on the west campus, Allison Women's Imaging is the only breast center in the region that's a certified quality breast center with the national quality measure for breast centers program.

To schedule a mammogram at Midland Memorial, call 432-682-XRAY (9729). Also, log onto midland-memorial.com for a complete list of breast cancer awareness events around the basin throughout the month of October.
