ODESSA -- Storms across the state are having an impact on construction right here in west Texas.
First Baptist Church of Odessa was set to open its new worship center on December 15, but Pastor Byron McWilliams says because of the Texas ice storms, materials they needed to complete the building weren't delivered in time.
Crews have not been able to finish the parking lot for the new sanctuary.
The first service is now set for December 22.
Senior pastor byron mcwilliams says, "What we want is that when somebody walks inside it will just be spectacular, and due to the ice conditions in the metroplex area primarily, they've not been able to ship us some things that we've needed in order to make that spectacular moment happen, and so that's why we've delayed."
If you would like to see the worship center before the first service its set to open, on Friday, December 20 with the premiere of the 2013 Permian Basin Christmas Celebration.
