Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - New York Yankees right-hander Michael Pineda will start Wednesday's series finale against Baltimore after missing more than three months due to a shoulder injury, the team said Monday.
Pineda was placed on the disabled list May 6 with a right shoulder muscle strain. The move came after his 10-game suspension for doctoring a baseball in an April 23 game against the Boston Red Sox ended.
During his suspension, Pineda suffered a strained muscle in his shoulder while throwing a side session. He will take the place of Esmil Rogers, who had been scheduled to start against the Orioles on Wednesday.
Pineda went 2-2 with a 1.83 ERA in his first four starts of the season for the Yankees, who trail the Orioles by six games for first place in the AL East and are 2 1/2 games behind Kansas City for the AL's second wild-card spot.
