ODESSA, TX (Local Big 2 News) -- Wendy Davis, the Democratic candidate for Texas Governor, made a stop in the Permian Basin Tuesday.

Davis hosted a press conference at the Odessa Crisis Center and spoke out about her record of fighting for and empowering rape survivors.

As a current state senator, Davis outlined the three State Senate bills she helped to pass into law that are to correct the state's rape kit back-log.

If elected as the next governor, Davis says she will fight for victims and survivors.

"I will stomp out any neglect or miscarriage of justice without hesitation,” Sen. Davis said. “That is my promise to the people of this great state. And it's a promise not based on words, but on proven and effective action."

Davis along with three other candidates, including Attorney General Greg Abbott are vying to be the next Governor of Texas.

The general election is coming up this fall, on Tuesday, November 4th. You must be registered to vote by October 6th, to cast you ballot in the general election.
