Eden Prairie, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Vikings have added their second free agent cornerback in as many days, signing former San Diego Charger Derek Cox to a reported one-year contract Friday.

The move comes on the heels of the team reaching a three-year deal with ex- Carolina Panthers corner Captain Munnerlyn on Thursday worth $15 million, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Cox has started 53 games over five NFL seasons, the first four of which were spent with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 2009 third-round pick signed a four- year, $20 million contract with the Chargers last March, but lost his starting job in midseason and was released by the club earlier this month.

The 27-year-old finished with 34 tackles, one interception and seven passes defensed in 16 games (11 starts) with San Diego. Cox garnered four picks in 12 games with the Jaguars the previous season and has recorded 13 interceptions over 63 career contests.
