MIDLAND, TX (Local Big 2 News) UPDATE: An off-duty detective shot and killed an armed robbery suspect inside La Bodega restaurant on Friday night, officials say.

Police say Nyocomus Garnett, 35, went into the back door of the restaurant with a gun and began firing shots in the kitchen. The call came into police around 9:30.

An off-duty Midland detective who was eating at the restaurant confronted Garnett. Police say Garnett fired at the detective after refusing to comply with the detective's demands, which led to the detective shooting Garnett.

Authorities say Garnett was pronounced dead at the scene, no other injuries were reported and the restaurant was evacuated.

The Texas Rangers and the Midland Police Department's internal board continue to investigate.
