UPDATE: An Odessa Girl Seriously Injured Following Major Crash

An Odessa girl is seriously injured following a major crash Tuesday evening in the 500 block of Zeneta.
UPDATE: Odessa Police now says Lubbock's University Medical Center has upgraded the 5-year-old girl involved in last night's accident on Zeneta, to Stable condition.

ODESSA -- On August 5, 2014 Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to the 500 block of Zeneta Street in reference to a major crash. The investigation revealed that a white Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 13-year-old male, from Odessa, was traveling soutbound in the 500 block of Zeneta Street with a 5-year-old female in the bed of the truck.

Reports show, the 5-year-old female jumped out of the back of the truck as the Silverado was in motion, causing the 5-year-old to sustain life-threatening injuries.

Police say the 5-year-old was transported to Medical Center Hospital and later air lifted to Lubbock’s University Medical Center. The 13-year-old male did not sustain any injuries during the crash.

The investigation is ongoing. The 13-year-old male was cited for not having a driver’s license.
