Tyler Thomason

Evening Anchor
Tyler Thomason anchors Local Big 2 News weeknights at 5 and 10. Tyler actually started his TV career in the West Texas area just a few years ago and is thrilled to be back.

An Arkansas native, Tyler grew up in Little Rock where his entire family still lives. Television news captured Tyler's attention at a young age, and since then, the itch for news, sports and wanting to be "in the know" has stuck . He remembers watching local news with his family as a kid back in Arkansas and never had a doubt about the career path he wanted to take.

Tyler's college adventure took him to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where he graduated with a degree in Sports Media Broadcasting and Broadcast Production. His favorite class: sports play by play. The class was taught by Oklahoma State's radio play-by-play announcer, and although the class was geared mainly toward sports, much of the class hinged on the ability to tell a story and communcating in a way that captivates a viewer or listener,

Tyler completed an internship with KATV (ABC) in Little Rock, a station that he grew up watching. Shortly after graduating, Tyler began his TV news career at KSAN (NBC) in San Angelo, Texas as a weekend anchor/reporter/producer. A short time later, Tyler returned to his home state for the next chapter of his career at KNWA (NBC) in Fayetteville, Arkansas as a weekend anchor/reporter/producer. May 2014 marked Tyler's return to West Texas when he officially joined the Local Big 2 News team.

Meeting new people and opportunities to be creative are the two aspects of this job that Tyler loves, and he's excited to continue to do that here in West Texas. Tyler's favorite thing about West Texas are the people; he continues to be impressed with how helpful, genuine and caring complete strangers can be!

Some of Tyler's hobbies include: trying new foods, working out, hearing new music, rooting for the Oklahoma State Cowboys and of course, meeting new people! So, if you happen to bump into Tyler around town, don't hesitate to say 'Hello!'
