Two Former Big Spring Officers Plead Guilty to Federal Charges

Two former police officers pleaded guilty to charges connected to an inmate's suicide two years ago.
BIG SPRING, TX (Local Big 2 News) -- Two former Big Spring correctional officers pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a inmate's suicide two years ago.

Authorities found the inmate dead at the Big Spring correctional center in August of 2012.

This week, Frederick Hernandez, 45, and Christopher Moore, 42, pleaded guilty to federal charges, admitting they turned in false paperwork.

The documents said they had done safety checks every 30 minutes during their shifts when they really hadn't.

Hernandez was the officer in charge, and Moore admitted to knowing the records were false.

The two are set to be sentenced at a later date.
