Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Tigers recalled infielder Eugenio Suarez from Triple-A Toledo Wednesday.
The 22-year-old prospect has been solid offensively in the minors this season. In 54 games split between Toledo and Double-A Erie, he has hit .288 with 18 doubles, eight home runs and 36 RBI.
The Tigers expect Suarez to bring offense to the shortstop position after Andrew Romine and Danny Worth have hit .200 and .167, respectively, in replacement of the injured Jose Iglesias.
To make room for Suarez on the roster, the Tigers designated Worth for assignment.
