Efforts to stop and prevent elderly abuse were on display Wednesday in St. Joseph’s Home Healthcare and Adult Protective Services’ fifth annual elder abuse conference at Midland College.

APS, law enforcement, judicial and medical professionals spoke about types of abuse and neglect.

APS says adults who neglect themselves or are unwilling or unable to care for themselves, are more likely to be victims.

Attendees wore purple in honor of elder abuse victims.

Purple balloons were released to honor victims.
