Stephanie Sobic anchors Local Big 2 News weeknights at 5 and 10. Before moving to nights, Stephanie spent 3 years waking you up every weekday morning on Good Morning West Texas!
Since 2007, Stephanie has worked as anchor/reporter, but her career in asking the 'tough' questions started at a very young age; just ask her parents!
Growing up, she was always the little girl to ask 'why'. Early on, her parents knew she was destined to be a reporter, but they let her follow her dream of becoming an actress. Stephanie went to Indiana University as a Theater Major and says she learned quickly that acting was a passion and not a talent. It wasn't until her internship at WISH-TV in Indianapolis, she realized doing the news was her calling. After graduating as a Double Major in Theater and Communication, Stephanie was hired as a reporter for WKAG-TV in Hopkinsville, KY.
After spending some time in Kentucky; Stephanie was soon West Texas Bound and hired as a new reporter for KMID Local Big 2. From 2007 to 2010, Stephanie worked as a reporter and weekend anchor for Local Big 2 News; covering stories like President George W. Bush coming home to Midland after President Barack Obama's inauguration.
Then, as life would have it, Stephanie moved to the Mid-west to work as a reporter for the NBC affiliate, WGBA-TV in Green Bay, WI. While in Wisconsin, Stephanie got to cover the controversial union bill, stripping state union workers of their collective bargaining rights. She also was right on the field after the Green Bay Packers won the Super Bowl and brought the Lombardi Trophy back to Lambeau Field.
Stephanie says she couldn't take the Wisconsin snow much longer and moved back to marry her husband in the Lone Star State. She and her husband have a chocolate lab Harper, who for almost a year had her own segment "Harper Time" on Good Morning West Texas. Stephanie jokes, she can't go anywhere in the Basin without someone asking how Harper is doing!
Enjoying 8 hours of sleep again, Stephanie says she's excited for her role on the evening news!
