Shooting in Odessa Park Kills One Man

On July 29th shortly before 7 p.m. Odessa Police responded to Floyd Gwin Park at 2300 West 10th Street in reference to shots being fired.
UPDATE: Odessa Police now releasing the name of the murder victim from last night's shooting. He has been identified as Gabriel Castillo, 23 years of age, not 27 as previously told to us by police. Investigators still need the public's assistance with this case.

At this time no arrests have been made and there are no suspects.


ODESSA, TX (Local Big 2 News) -- On July 29th shortly before 7 p.m. Odessa Police responded to Floyd Gwin Park (2300 West 10th Street) in reference to shots being fired.

When they arrived the found a 27-year-old Hispanic man had been shot at several times.

The victim was transported to Medical Center Hospital and later pronounced dead.

Odessa Police Spokesman, Corporal Steve LeSueur says the victim may have been targeted.

At this time no arrests have been made and there are no suspects, but officers are asking the public for help.
