Shelby Levins

Evening Anchor
Shelby Levins anchors Big 2 News at 5 and 10 p.m. She is honored to serve her fellow West Texans every weekday evening by presenting the news and delivering stories that are important to our communities and region.

Growing up a proud "military brat," Shelby lived all over the world, even graduating high school in Germany. Still, there was always one constant throughout the moves -- coming home to West Texas. Her father is from Andrews, so she spent part of every summer in the Permian Basin visiting "Granny and Papa." She has many fond, childhood memories of visiting the old prairie dog park in Andrews, eating steakfingers at Buddy's Drive-In and playing in the Monahans Sandhills State Park.

Shelby has always had a passion for people, a thirst for knowledge and a love for story-telling. She graduated from Trinity University with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication and Business Administration and dove straight into broadcast journalism.

She worked as an associate producer for WOAI-TV in San Antonio. Then, she moved north to “Texoma,” working her way up from reporter to weekend anchor at KXII-TV.

Shelby returned to West Texas in November 2010 to anchor and produce Good Morning West Texas for KMID-TV. In less than a year, she was promoted to evening anchor.

Shelby and her husband are proud to call Odessa home. She enjoys giving back to the community by serving on the West Texas Food Bank Board and the John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership Institute Advisory Board; she also volunteers with the Aphasia Center and participates in Junior League of Odessa.
