School District Faces Multimillion-Dollar Budget Shortfall

One school district official says there are only a couple options to avoid the shortfall.
MIDLAND, TX (Local Big 2 News) -- Midland ISD faces a multimillion dollar budget short fall ahead of next school year.

On Monday night, school board leaders say the current $3-million-dollar budget shortfall for next school year will grow if changes aren't made.

We're told the deficit could grow to over $18 million in the following school year.

There's only a couple options to close the gap, according to MISD superintendent Ryder Warren: either the school district would need to make cuts impacting the quality of education, or ask Midland voters to consider increasing the tax rate by two cents; from a $1.04 to $1.06.
