Sandhills State Park Celebrates Re-Opening of The Section House

A renovated public facility is now open for you at the Sandhills State Park.
MONAHANS, TX (Local Big 2 News) -- A renovated public facility is now open for you at the Sandhills State Park.

The Monahans Sandhills State Park celebrated the re-opening of the Section House Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a taco lunch.

State and local leaders came together for the celebration which was hosted by the Monahans Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of the Sandhills State Park.

The historic home had been closed as it needed repairs.

But generous donations from West Texans helped to renovate the house, and it's now back open and available to be rented out for parties and other events.

The Section House is located near the entrance of the Sandhills State Park.

"It's a wonderful place to come and bring your family," State Rep. Tyron Lewis said. "And I just hope everyone out there realizes what a great place it is and comes to visit."

The Sandhills State Park is almost 4,000 acres large.

It's free for children 12 and younger. For adults, the entrance fee is only $3 for the entire day.
