(SportsNetwork.com) - The Oklahoma City Thunder appear to have made a move to bolster their bench for their upcoming playoff drive, with Yahoo! Sports reporting that the team will sign free-agent forward Caron Butler once he clears waivers.

Butler, who had his contract bought out by the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday, chose the Thunder over another serious title contender, the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat, according to Yahoo! The 12-year pro will officially join Oklahoma City after he passes through waivers on Saturday.

The 33-year-old averaged 11.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in 34 games with the Bucks this season and owns career marks of 15.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Butler also brings significant postseason experience to Oklahoma City, having appeared in 47 career playoff games and helping the Dallas Mavericks capture a league title in 2010-11.

The two-time All-Star actually began his career with the Heat, having been taken by Miami with the 10th overall pick of the 2002 draft. Butler spent two seasons with the Heat before being shipped to the Lakers as part of the July 2004 trade that sent Shaquille O'Neal from Los Angeles to Miami.
