MIDLAND/ODESSA, TX (Big 2 News) -- The American Red Cross is prepping for a state-wide disaster drill this weekend. And The Permian Basin chapter of Red Cross is asking for your help.

Our local chapter will be partnering with the cities of Midland and Odessa along with several other local agencies to practice its disaster response.

"If the unthinkable happens, families will need a safe shelter and food before anything else," said Eddie Pool, Sr. Disaster Program Manager, Permian Basin Area Chapter stated in a media release on Tuesday, "An exercise like this strengthens our ability to respond quickly in an emergency by allowing more volunteers to receive hands-on shelter training before a real disaster strikes."

The Red Cross is looking for volunteers to serve as "actors," who will test out the non-profit's emergency response during the 24-hour long disaster drill.

It's set to run from noon on Friday to noon on Saturday.

If you would like to volunteer, organizers ask you email: arcexercisevolunteer@gmail.com
