An Odessa city park community center gets a million dollar makeover!
ODESSA, TX (LOCAL BIG 2 NEWS) -- An Odessa city park community center gets a million dollar makeover!

The city kicked off the Lawndale Park renovation project with a celebration Tuesday.

The city says the $1.1-million project will bring a number of new things to the community building, which is located at 92nd and Rainbow. The upgrades include: new restrooms, a new kitchen, a new multipurpose room for up to 60 people, and a new banquet room for 200 people.

"It'll be a building used by any segment of the community and can be rented out just as our other community centers,” said Scott Anderson with Odessa Parks and Recreation.

Chevron is helping to fund the building's outdoor garden area with a $50,000 grant.

The city expects the project to be complete in about five to six months.
