One Man Arrested In Midland After Fleeing From Police

The suspect was caught by an officer on his morning commute to work.
Midland, TX (Big 2 News) - A Midland man has been arrested after reports show he tried to hit police officers with his car.

Police say Jaime Lee Perdue was driving the wrong way on Loop 250 near Midland Dr. when they pulled him over around 2:00 am Monday morning.

That's when, according to police, Perdue hit the gas and drove toward the officers.

Officers fired shots at the van he was driving.

Then, police say Perdue ditched the van he in a field just north of the Greentree subdivision.

Police along with other local authorities searched throughout Monday night for Perdue, who was found by an MPD officer on his way to work on Monday morning.

He had minor gunshot injuries in the arm and head and has since been treated at a local hospital and arrested.

Police tell us the van that Perdue was driving was reported stolen and registered to an owner in Upton County.

He's being charged with two counts of aggravated assault against public servant, one count of evading, and one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Both officers who fired shots have been placed on administrative leave until after review by Texas Rangers and MPD.

If they pass, they will then be on administrative duty until a the Midland Police Department hears back from a grand jury.
