OHS forces 5 turnovers; Dominate Monterey 42-17

The Odessa High Bronchos turn things around in Week One against Monterey, forcing five turnovers and winning 42-17.

Odessa High had a breakout game on Friday night against Lubbock Monterey, and coach King's Bronchos notched their first win of 2013 a lot earlier than in 2012 when it took them until the last game of the season to record a victory.

Odessa high forced five turnovers on defense, forcing the Plainsmen to fumble four times and throw one interception. This allowed the Bronchos to have a short field, and they cashed in by scoring 42 points on offense en route to a 42-17 win. OHS head coach Ron King was satisfied with his team’s performance and had this to say about the Bronchos performance.

"If I knew I would bottle it and sell it. To be honest with you though, our kids came back very motivated from that week when we played Amarillo. They understood what they were going to have to do in order to get better. They knew they didn't play as well as they could have, but against Monterey they were focused, and they were just ready to play. I was very proud of how they came out and handled it."
