Odessa Police Finds ATM Stolen with Forklift

The Odessa Police, working with the FBI, found the ATM stolen with a forklift.
The Odessa Police, working with the FBI, found the ATM stolen with a forklift.

According to authorities, the ATM stolen Wednesday morning was found that same evening on a pasture near Yokon and Loop 338 in Odessa.

“Investigators have located the stolen ATM machine and all of its contents including an undisclosed amount of US currency,” said Corporal Steve LeSueur with the Odessa Police.

According to LeSueur, there are at least two suspects in the Complex Community Credit Union theft, and police are working to locate the truck used to steal the ATM.

Professional locksmiths say opening the ATM machine is almost impossible.

“Short of explosives or a cutting torch there is no way if it's a good high quality safe,” said Allen Sutphen from Sagebrush Security.

And explosives are heard to come by, he said.

“Most locksmiths go through years of training just to be able to break into a safe legally,” Sutphen said.
