Odessa, TX (Big 2 News) - "Your passions are what make you a whole person. For me, I’m very passionate about military families and helping them address the issues they face", said Reda Hicks.
Odessa Native Reda Hicks is passionate about improving the lives of military families by empowering military spouses. Reda's spirited efforts led to her receiving the 2014 Army Spouse of the Year Award!
"Winning Army Spouse of the Year is a really huge honor. There were hundreds of people who were nominated each of whom were a leader in their own communities", said Hicks.
The Military Spouse JD Network is a bar association for military spouse attorneys.
Although Reda spends time serving the MJDSN, she makes sure her family comes first.
"When my son needs me that's my top priority and when my husband needs me that's my top priority", said Hicks.
Family is a top priority in Reda's life and West Texas runs deep in her veins.
"I'm born and raised here, my parents met when they were going to Odessa High School together", said Hicks.
There was always a family rivalry between Odessa High and Permian High.
"It’s also really humbling to have a community that has stuck by me, through all of that", said Hicks.
To win the 2014 Military Spouse of the Year Award, Reda is competing against the Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and National Guard spouses! While each branch of the Armed Forces is competing against each other, they all stand as one.
"When you put together hundreds of lawyers who are all focused on making life better for military families, that's a really powerful force for good", said Hicks.
Starting March 4th, you can vote for Reda Hicks to win the 2014 Military Spouse of the Year Award.
