After being on the run for nearly a year, he's now behind bars.

"We've been searching for him for approximately 10 months, and it just goes to show that you know again, you can run but you can't hide," said Cpl. Steve LeSueur, public information officer for the Odessa Police Department.

Authorities arrested Ruiz more than 700 miles away in Colorado.

The Weld County Sheriff's reports Ruiz was picked up back in may for fleeing from police.

And according to Ector County Jail records we was booked in the Ector County Jail over the weekend and now awaits his trail.

"Everybody is innocent until proven guilty, he'll have to go to court, you know, for the charges that he is currently facing," said Cpl. LeSueur.

Cpl. Lesueur says those charges include indecency with a child, aggravated sexual assault, theft, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

"The only charge that was brought by OPD was the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon," said Cpl. LeSueur.

Cpl. Lesuer says Ruiz stabbed a man in his arms and neck several times outside of a bar last October and that police have been looking for Ruiz since then.
