Odessa Celebrates Daddy Daughter Dance

Nearly 400 fathers and daughters attended the Daddy Daughter dance in Odessa Saturday.
ODESSA, TX (Local Big 2 News) -- Nearly 400 fathers and daughters attended the Daddy Daughter dance in Odessa Saturday.

This year's theme was "Masquerade Ball," with the children given masks to wear for the dance before entering the ballroom.

Event organizers say the Daddy Daughter dance is a way for children and fathers and make traditions and make memories.

"It's a spectacular time for dads and daughters to bond and have a moment together," said Lisa Housman, president for the Junior League of Odessa.

"What we do is basically teach them how they should be treated when they grow up," explained Chris Hallmark, recreation and special events coordinator for the City of Odessa's Parks and Recreation department. "We're instilling values and tradition and memories."

Organizers say this year they actually divided the event up into two dances based on age groups.
