Monahans Loboes 2013 Football Season Preview

The Monahans Loboes made it to the regional semifinals in 2012, but head coach Mickey Owens is focused on three key factors in 2013.

The Monahans Loboes made it to the regional semifinals in 2012, but head coach Mickey Owens is focused on three key factors in 2013.

"You know we always have three goals. You want to win the first ball game of the year, the first district game, and you want to win a district title. With those three goals if you win the district championship, then you're in the playoffs and you want to make that run as far as you can" said Owens.

The Loboes will be led by senior Quarterback Haasan Walker, whose position of leadership fits his outgoing personality perfectly.

Owens added about Walker "I think he brings confidence. You know the last five games of the year he alternated at quarterback and he brings a lot of confidence and energy. He's always talking, and that's what you have to have in a quarterback is a good leader."

Haasan said about it being all about this year, "I'm just trying to get them all fired up and let them know that this is it. We have to get it right now. We tell our underclassmen there is no next year, because it comes up really quick."

District 4-3A better be ready, because these Loboes are capable of sneaking up and capturing a district title.

"In other people’s eyes we're under dogs, and we like that. We want to play with them and we'll do anything we have to" said Walker.

Senior wide receiver Junior Morales chimed in with "Don't back down, keep your head up, and fight for what you want."
