MISD Bus Has Minor Crash

A Midland Independent School District bus traveling back from an Austin field trip was involved in a minor crash.
A Midland Independent School District bus traveling back from an Austin field trip was involved in a minor crash.

According to the district’s superintendent, everyone returned home safe.

Below is Dr. Ryder Warren’s explanation:

Every year we take a group of 7th graders to Austin (normally representing each junior high school) to visit the Bob Bullock Museum. Yesterday we used three of our "coach" buses to transport approximately 120 students. While coming home last night, one of our buses was involved in an accident with another car about 10 miles this side of San Angelo. One student complained of nausea after the accident and our staff made the decision to ask EMS to take that student back to San Angelo to Shannon Hospital as a precaution. All other students and staff members who were on the bus checked out safe and sound.

The other two buses made it home around 2:00 a.m., this morning. There was not a lot of damage to the bus that was involved in the accident, so we were able to continue the trip home and all students and staff member on the effected bus. They rolled in around 2:45 a.m. After being checked out by Shannon Hospital staff, our other student was released to parents.

I want to commend the work of our trip sponsors, our parents, and the MISD Transportation Department. Everyone worked very hard last night to make sure all kids were safe and made it back home.
