Midland Classical heads to State one year after disappointing playoff result

The 6th ranked Lady Knights have reached the final four of the TAPPS 3A state final, one year after a disappointing outcome one year ago.
Midland Classical has reached the final four of the TAPPS 3A state tournament, and the Lady Knights are more than excited about this opportunity after a disappointing end to 2013. Head coach Carla Cunneen is proud of this team's accomplishments thus far, and says they act more like a family than just your ordinary basketball team.

"We've got a good team, we've played a good schedule this year. I think we just started to peak the last few weeks of the season. Which ended up just being just in time to get us where we're going to today" said Cunneen.

Senior shooting guard Kayla Beattie, who had 27 points in the Lady Knights 60-55 overtime victory against McKinney Christian that propelled Classical to the State tournament said it's nice to see all of the hard work they've put in this season finally pay off.

"Really excited. I mean we're excited because last year we got knocked out a lot earlier than we would've wanted. So to bounce back this year and make it to the final four is really exciting" said Beattie.

The 6th ranked Lady Knights will take on FW Lake Country Christian on Friday, February 28th, at 4:30 p.m. from Fort Worth Nolan Catholic High School. If they win, they will play the winner of Austin Brentwood Christian/Houston Cypress Christian on Saturday, March 1st, at 5:00 p.m.
