Winning isn't just a thing, it's everything if you're Midland Christian. The Mustangs know they can't gaze into the future, but they have to focus on becoming the strongest herd possible day in and day out.
Head Coach Greg McClendon said "Our focus isn't on back to back, our focus is we have to get better every day, every play. It's a process of getting back there. We look up and our prayers are that we'll win a third straight."
You know the Mustangs will put up points on offense, but one thing that may go under the radar for them this season will be the defense.
"Our defense is ahead of where we have been at this time of the year in everything" said McClendon.
Senior defensive end T.D. Reeger-North added "Well we have to listen to what the coaches say. We have to do as they say, read our keys, play hard, and get eleven people to the ball every play."
In order for the Mustangs to reach their third consecutive state championship game, they will need to live out their season motto, rock solid.
On the team motto, McClendon said, "Rock solid is putting your feet on solid ground. You put your feet on solid ground with fundamentals and doing the little things right. Be faithful in the little things and you will be blessed with much."
Senior Quarterback Mason McClendon is close to breaking multiple school passing records, but it's something that doesn't phase the Mustangs leader one bit.
"If you take care of your job, the records will come. The only record I really care about though is winning. That's something I want to be remembered as is a winner and I want to continue to be a winner" said Mason.
