Midland Bulldogs Zero Week

The Midland Bulldogs continue to sort out position battles before Saturday's season opener versus El Paso Americas.

The Midland Bulldogs have a number of position battles still looming before their first game of 2013. Head coach Craig Yenzer still hasn't decided on who the team's starting quarterback will be. The battle is between two seniors, Preston Howey and Sam grimes. Grimes gained varsity experience from last year but both kids look promising heading into this season. On defense, the Bulldogs are transitioning to a 4-2-5 style of play, and coach Yenzer is pleased with how his players are learning and adapting to the new scheme.

Yenzer said "I think our man to man concepts are coming along. That helps us with being more aggressive in the forcing unit, in the 4-2 part of our defense. We still have a few position battles going on. The good news for us is that we do have some guys challenging. Sometimes when we have a player on the defensive side of the ball we feel may not be getting it done we have a guy who we can put in there that we feel like is a good athlete."
