MCS Lady Mustangs gear up for State tournament

The Midland Christian girls basketball team is headed to the TAPPS 4A state tournament.
In TAPPS 4A, the Midland Christian Lady Mustangs are headed to the State tournament this weekend where they will see a familiar opponent in the semifinals.

MCS will take on Lubbock Trinity Christian for the 4th time this season, and Trinity has beaten the Lady Stangs in two of the first three match ups. Including one victory at Midland Christian where they hit a game winning, buzzer beater three pointer.

"Obviously they're the best. I would like to beat the best to be the best, and to get to State we have to do that. We're out for blood and we just want to win. Whatever we have to do to win we will do that" said MCS senior guard Morgan Ashton.

MCS head coach Chris Ryburn said the scouting report will be much easier for this game given these two teams history against each other this season. Ryburn also added "I think a little bit it may even help us that we're playing a familiar opponent because then it kind of takes away from the big stage of the State tournament. It kind of puts us back into a place we're familiar with."

Come Friday afternoon the Lady Mustangs will be ready to knock off the TAPPS 4A defending state champions.
