MCH Gives Patients Online Access To Medical Records

Odessa, TX (Local Big 2 News) - Medical Center Hospital in Odessa is now offering a more convenient service.
Odessa, TX (Local Big 2 News) - Medical Center Hospital in Odessa is now offering a more convenient service.

It includes clinical summaries for out patients, surgery summaries for in patients and more.

"Medications that physicians have prescribed, lab results such as blood work, ultra sounds, imaging," said Ashley Rich, physician EMR specialist with Medical Center Health System.

Rich tells me all of this information is now available online for patients who sign up for the free service.

"This allows them to take this to a new doctor they may be seeing and they don't have to wait on those records to be faxed over," Rich said.

My MCH Records, allows patients to easily access their medical records online and receive lab results in as soon as 24-hours.

MCH patient Christopher Ornelas tells me he finds it really convenient.

"In case I forget you know, what some of my labs were, if I need to go to a different hospital I can pull it up and see what kind of procedures I had and my lab results," Ornelas said.

MCH officials say with more than 600 patients that have already signed up for the service, security is not an issue.

"They have a 128 bit secure web browser that they use for the company so, with My MCH Records, it is HI-PA secure," Rich said.

"They are dealing with a lot of customer information, social security numbers, you know, stuff like that. It's gonna be more secure than the average Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts," said Eric Kittelson a Best Buy Geek Squad Consultant Agent.

MCH OFFICIALS TELL ME THEY ARE THE FIRST IN THE PERMIAN BASIN TO OFFER THIS TYPE OF SERVICE...

"If you have a wifi router that's encrypted or has a pass-code on it, it's gonna be hard for people to actually just got log into it and steal your information," Kittelson said.
