Focused. That's the mindset of the Marfa Shorthorns. After going 4-6 last year, this year's seniors are relishing the thought of a clean slate.
"Last year's class, we didn't get things done like we wanted to. So this year, with more experience, we want to be able to be one of the first teams in a while to hold the gold ball."
With a year of 6 man ball experience under its belt, head coach Jeff Jones says his players know exactly what it will take to hoist that trophy.
"Now they know exactly what to expect in this game. It's a lot more wide open. A lot more fast paced game and we really come a long way these first two weeks of two-a-days have been leaps and bounds from where we were last year."
"We just have speed training more. Running a lot, way more than last year..."
There may be only four of them, but the Shorthorns seniors look to lead this young squad and collide into the 2013 season.
"As us seniors, even though there aren’t many of us, we can step up and show these underclassmen what it takes to be great."
"Right in the middle of their high school career they've had to switch games completely from 11 man to 6 man and just seeing these two grow into the 6 man game is great to watch."
