Man Shot in Odessa

Odessa Police have arrested a man after a New Years Eve shooting.

On December 31, 2011, at approximately 8:44 A.M., officers from the Odessa Police Department were dispatched to the 3100 block of Eisenhower in reference to a gunshot victim.  At this location they made contact with a 36 year old Hispanic male that had a gunshot wound to his left arm and hand. The victim stated that as he was driving home after work in the 1100 block of Douglas, a known Hispanic male and two unknown Hispanic males began following him. The suspects shot at him multiple times, striking him in the left arm and hand. After the shooting occurred the victim drove to a family members' residence to call the police. 

A short time later the Ector County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance in the 5700 block of North Tom Green. During their investigation it was determined that subjects involved in this disturbance were possibly involved in the above mentioned assault. Investigators from the Odessa Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division responded to 5700 block of North Tom Green to assist in the investigation.

The investigation led to the arrest of Richard Lopez Jr. He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second degree felony and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. The investigation continues...
